Start your day with a bit of discovery. Depending on your interests, Lynchburg’s variety of historic and cultural landmarks promises something memorable for every type of traveler:

  • Poplar Forest – Explore Thomas Jefferson’s octagonal retreat, designed as a peaceful hideaway from Monticello. Tour the house, walk the grounds, and see ongoing archaeological digs.
  • Point of Honor – Overlooking the James River, this elegant Federal-style mansion offers a glimpse into 19th-century life — complete with Dr. George Cabell’s medical tools on display.

Spend your afternoon diving deeper into Lynchburg’s mix of old and new. Stroll through downtown’s historic streets, admire public art, and step into local galleries or shops. If you’re in the mood for something active, rent a bike and ride the RiverWalk Trail, or take a short hike to Point of Honor to soak up scenic James River views.
