What a beautiful place. I'm new in town, but this was first on my places-to-see. The property is immaculately maintained, and everyone from the gift shop to the docents was incredibly pleasant. I think it was $6.00 for a tour; my guides were patient and knowledgable. Everything in the house is time-period, though most is not from the original families. Still, there's some interesting local pieces on display. Can't wait to come back with my family and show off this local history!

Wow. Wish I had done research prior to stumbling on this place. Staff more than helpful. Hope was wonderful guide and answered questions like a pro. Must visit site when in Lynchburg.

Point of Honor is a historic Federal-style house and museum in Lynchburg, built around 1815 and originally part of a plantation centered on Dr. George Cabell’s estate. The site, once associated with dueling grounds, interprets both the lives of prominent early Virginia families and the enslaved community who lived and worked there from 1775 to 1865. Today it is part of the Lynchburg Museum System and features restored architecture, exhibits, and guided interpretation. Save time to walk the gardens, or shop the Carriage House Gift Shop.
