Google Rating
4.8
The Anne Spencer House & Garden Museum preserves the home of poet and Harlem Renaissance figure Anne Spencer. Spencer was also a civil rights activist, teacher, librarian, and gardener, and her work was published alongside major literary figures of her time. The house museum features original furnishings and personal artifacts that reflect her life and work. The surrounding garden, which inspired much of her poetry, has been carefully restored and is open to the public daily. The property also includes her writing cottage, known as “Edankraal,” where she created many of her poems. Tours of the house are available by appointment, and the garden is open free of charge.
