The COVID-19 pandemic is challenging the way we live our lives, but fortunately, the Lynchburg business community has an entrepreneurial spirit and have implemented new ways to keep serving their public. Many of our local restaurants have remained open instituting options new to them such as delivery, curbside service or buying gift cards. Let’s support them in any way we can, whether that means getting takeout or buying gift cards. Here are just a few that have found creative ways to continue serving their customers!
Mama Crockett’s

Mama Crockett’s Cider Donuts has also done their part to bring the people their apple cider donuts in the midst of a pandemic! They’ve adjusted their hours and their methods of service to accommodate social distancing regulations, and you can also order online. But they’ve gone further, too, by adapting their food truck to include a delivery chute that allows people to pick up their sweet treats from the trailer window while still a short distance away!
Lynchburg Community Market
The Lynchburg Community Market located in Downtown Lynchburg is home to several small restaurants and local makers. The businesses inside are still ready and eager to serve customers through online ordering and on a grab-and-go basis. So you can still get delicious homestyle soups, sandwiches and treats from Father’s Cafe & Bakery, buy a cup of fresh artisan coffee from Grains of Sense or get your fix of homemade Scratch Pasta, just to name a few.
Crisp
Crisp Salad and Juice Bar in Downtown Lynchburg and Forest is determined to help people stay healthy and safe in the midst of current events. Their custom salad assembly line is running on modified hours and is complete with the freshest greens, fruits, protein options and dressings. So order ahead and drive up to the curb so the friendly folks of Crisp can hand you your salad!
The Water Dog
The Water Dog has been busy the entire time that social distancing regulations have been in effect. They are active in promoting support for small businesses as a whole, especially now, and they have also committed to serving their customers faithfully with takeout options that include growler fills of your favorite drinks for you to take home. So if you want to get your seafood fix, let the curbside of The Water Dog be your destination!
Rivermont Pizza

Pizza is one of the most popular takeout foods around, so Rivermont Pizza is making sure they continue to sling pies for their customers—from a safe distance, of course, and during modified hours. They’ve also kept their in-house craft beer shop, Ned’s, open so that you can still pick out your favorite brews to pair with your order. And going above and beyond this, they are continuing with their Monday night trivia virtually to create community during social distancing!
Grey’s

A local brunch, lunch and dinner spot that is popular with the locals, Grey’s on Fifth Street serves up classic American food in a chilled-out atmosphere. Like many other restaurants, they too have modified their hours of service and menu to accommodate the needs of their customers. They post their menus on social media, and you can get salads and their delicious specialty chicken or fish sandwiches by ordering ahead and picking up on their patio.
Isabella’s

If you’re in need of an Italian fix, Isabella’s Italian Trattoria is still open for curbside service! Their menu has been modified, but still includes plenty of savory salad, pizza, specialty plates and tossed pasta dishes to suit your palate. And don’t forget to check out their dessert menu, which includes tiramisu and chocolate-dipped cannoli! Just call ahead or order online, and they’ll get your order ready to pass through your car window.
Craft Beer Cellar

So if you want to keep your beer game going strong while you’re at home, check out their website and order online to have it brought to your door!
Rookie’s

We’ve all been anticipating the 2020 cookie season from Rookie’s, and they are coming in clutch! A popular dessert bar with a permanent location on Route 221, this local treat spot has already begun serving its customers on a drive-up basis. Their delicious home-baked cookies and Homestead Creamery ice cream are ready and waiting for you when you drive up to their parking lot. You can electronically order a fresh ice cream sandwich and wait for it to be delivered to your car window. Or, you can relive the nostalgia of waiting for an ice cream truck, because Rookie’s has started doing neighborhood pop-ups on Sundays around Lynchburg and surrounding areas in order to deliver your dessert directly to you!
