The Craddock Terry is conveniently located in the beautiful and historic Downtown Lynchburg, where food and entertainment options are all easily walkable. The experience at Shoemakers begins in the courtyard with patio seating, string lights, and fire pits. Inside you’ll find an attentive bar and wait staff mixing delicious cocktails, and offering a superb wine list. Once seated at your table, start with an appetizer from French dishes to seafood fare. Shoemaker’s entrees are all delicious, but they are especially known for their butcher’s block meat options like ribeye or prime cut filet, and for their specialty seafood options like the Icelandic salmon and steamed halibut. But you really can’t go wrong with any of their dishes if you prefer else like the duck breast, or artichoke wild mushroom risotto.

Throughout the year, Shoemaker’s and the Craddock Terry offer special wine and food pairing events. These events prove to be a luxurious experience and are usually in partnership with a vineyard, winery, or farm. Recently, they partnered with Pippin Hill Winery, and their multi-course meal was served in conjunction with wines that pair best with each course, from sparkling down to red. At the helm of these events and the genius in the kitchen, is Shoemaker’s master chef, Edwin Scholly. Scholly, who is from Germany, practiced his culinary skills in France, Germany, and New York before coming to the Craddock Terry. Scholly’s incredible skills make the dining experience one-of-a-kind, and not to mention truly delicious.
Other food options
Besides Shoemaker’s, you can also visit the other dining option connected to the Craddock Terry, Waterstone Pizza. Waterstone is known for its fire-roasted pizzas. Also, on the menu, are salads, sandwiches, and pasta dishes. This restaurant is located on the lower level of the hotel campus, with views of train tracks, the James River, and Riverfront Park.
