Bachelor and bachelorette parties are a chance for your wedding group to have one last hurrah before the bride and groom tie the knot. It’s a chance to spend time with your wedding party, create new memories and just have fun. Lynchburg is home to many places to have an unforgettable celebration.
Escape from Reality
If you’re looking for a non-traditional party idea, consider an escape room at One Way Out. Each escape room experience lasts an hour, during which time your team will work together in order to solve puzzles, find clues and beat the clock! For added competition, consider splitting into two groups and pitting the ladies against the gentlemen for the ultimate bragging right of first to solve the room (something you’ll never let your new spouse forget).
Get Adventurous
Marriage is an adventure in itself, so why not add an extra level of thrill? Lynchburg is surrounded by numerous beautiful hiking points. Here are just a few of the highlights:
- Appalachian Trail (Blue Ridge Parkway)- Enjoy breathtaking scenery, scenic hikes and more on sections of one of the country’s most famous trails. (Pro tip: Most of the parkway is accessible by car if you aren’t a fan of hiking!)
- Holliday Lake State Park– Located just a short drive away in Appomattox, this park is a haven for any outdoor enthusiast! Fishing and swimming are permitted here, so you can relax a little before or after your hike. Other perks include: biking and equestrian trials, a campground, picnic shelters, interpretive programs, two playgrounds, canoe, rowboat, sit-on-top kayaks, and paddle boat rentals, a seasonal concession stand and gift shop and a boat ramp.
- Peaks of Otter– If you have spent any amount of time in Lynchburg, chances are high that you know someone who has taken on Sharp Top and Flat Top. While these hikes are relatively short, they are strenuous. However, the views are worth it! Consider adding in lunch or dinner at the nearby lodge.
Pamper Yourself
What better way to kick off your wedding celebration than by pampering yourself? Located in the heart of downtown, The Parlor Spa offers a wide range of services for both women and men. This luxurious location provides massages, manicures, pedicures, hot shaves, facials, waxing and more! The Parlor can host large parties, as long as they have prior notice.
Give your skin a well deserved refresh at Telitha Apothecary and Spa, located on Main Street. Let the staff treat you to an all over skincare experience or a manicure and you may even leave with some new favorite products.
A few streets away on Church Street, consider Anthony and Company Salon and Spa, which offers haircuts, waxing, manicures, pedicures and even makeup services! Your whole party can enjoy a facial before the rest of the big weekend!
Grab Some Drinks
It’s no secret that Lynchburg is home to and surrounded by some of the best breweries, wineries and distilleries in the state. Have a party to remember at one of these great locations. Not only are the drinks good, but the views and scenery are incredible.
You can easily plan a whole day on the Nelson 151 Corridor. With three breweries, two cideries and six wineries in a 15 mile stretch, your options are wide open. With orchards and farms, unique shopping, bed and breakfasts, local restaurants, community theater, hiking, biking, skiing, golf, fresh air and unforgettable views, Nelson 151 is the perfect bachelor and bachelorette weekend stop.
