During this week-long event, Liberty University Campus Recreation and Alumni Relations embark on a new tradition of celebrating LU and the liberty granted to us by our great nation during the 4th of July holiday.
Celebrate Liberty @ Liberty Mountain
This is an open trail, 7.1K challenge (4.41 miles) that is marked on the Liberty University Liberty Mountain Trail System. The start and finish is at Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre.
Celebrate Liberty Anywhere
Complete a 7.1K (4.41 mile) distance from ANY location. Your run /walk needs to be completed in a single session. You can redo your distance as many times as you wish.

Celebrate Independence Day with a 5 mile race! Lynchburg is known as the “Hill City”….but this course is flat, flat, flat. The start and finish is located at the Blackwater Creek Natural Area Percival’s Island in downtown Lynchburg, and the course follows the Blackwater Creek Bikeway. Open to ages 9+. Preregister online.

Celebrate the 248th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in historic style. Colonial-style entertainment, demonstrations by colonial artisans and craftspeople, archaeological displays, old-fashioned children’s activities, a reading of the Declaration of Independence at 1:30 p.m. and more! Tours of Jefferson’s villa retreat will be available throughout the day.

Hillcats Baseball – the Cats face the Salem Red Sox. Join us for the largest game of the season and the largest fireworks show in town! Come for the game and stay for the fireworks. Fans will be allowed down on the field to watch the show (weather permitting)!
