Lynchburg, Virginia is an easy city to navigate. Our organized, gridded downtown makes finding streets simple. Attractions outside of the downtown area are easily found with your phone’s GPS. No matter what you come to town for, here are a few of our favorite ways to get around.
With multiple highways intersecting the city, Lynchburg is extremely accessible by car. Downtown boasts ample parking lots ,garages and on-street parking, making it easy to find a place to park (download a printable map here). Want to let someone else take the wheel? Simply call Uber or Lyft and relax!
The best part about Lynchburg? You can walk around the entirety of downtown! Be sure to visit The Bluffwalk, where you can find art, shops and even a few restaurants along the way.
If you want to travel around downtown quickly, or want to protect yourself from the weather, catch a ride on The Hopper! The Hopper is an entirely free, brand new bus service which will run throughout downtown Monday-Saturday. The Hopper’s route consists of a loop encompassing Church Street, Main Street, Commerce Street and Jefferson Street allowing visitors to see the best of what downtown has to offer!

Of course, if you’re traveling a bit further in Lynchburg than the immediate downtown area, there are bus options available too! GLTC’s bus service is a safe, affordable and accessible travel option.
With miles of bike trails surrounding the city, we encourage biking as a form of transportation. Bike rentals are conveniently located at Bikes Unlimited on Jefferson street, near the Percival’s Island Trail entrance. Pick one up and use it to explore the island, or ride in the other direction to explore an old train tunnel. No matter which route you choose, you’re sure to enjoy the challenge of bike riding in the Hill City!
