Wow and more wow. Instead of taking interstate 81 home from our son's graduation in Hillsville VA. We decided to take an alternate route. We started from Route 52 off Fancy Gap and we were not disappointed. The road was very well taken care of, no damn pot holes or a thousand different patches. It was smooth and comfortable to drive. We had missed the blooming of the rhododendron but was still blooming was the flame azalea and the wildflowers which were giving of a pleasant aroma. There were plenty of places to park, picnic and marked hiking trails and the cul-de-sac to view the splendor that is God's country.

Shortcut to Bliss can be found this way. Go in the fall. Go early in the morning when the deer are out in greater numbers than the cars. Pause every opportunity to get out and enjoy spectacular views in every direction.

We rode our motorcycle up the interstate and got on the Blue Ridge Parkway where it begins near staunton Virginia. The Blue Ridge Parkway is free to drive on but if you get on the Skyline drive it will cost you. We rode the parkway home to South Carolina. Got off where highway 276 crosses.

What a wonderful place and time to visit. There is always a chance to see wildlife and be a part of nature. There is ample parking and a clean rest area and very clean restrooms. If you love to hike or go bicycling to see nature, its a great place to go and if you prefer to go and just "BE" then this is the place to experience.
