Screenagers Workshop and Panel Discussion
March 9, 2024 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm
Free
We live in a world filled with screens and their use is consuming the time of children and youth (maybe even adults too!) Your family may be grappling with the screen usage issue whether it’s a phone, tablet, video games, or another device as you read this. Physician and filmmaker Dr. Delaney Ruston wrestled with this challenge as both a doctor and a mother and in response, SCREENAGERS: Growing Up in the Digital Age was born. This documentary was developed as a resource to help parents and families understand the impact these digital devices are having on young people and support the development of solutions to tackle the growing use of screens.
As a support to families in our Lynchburg community, First Presbyterian Church of Lynchburg is hosting a workshop featuring a screening of Dr. Ruston’s documentary (SCREENAGERS: Growing Up in the Digital Age) followed by a panel discussion and Q & A with five professional panelists: local pediatrician Dr. Brad Malcolm, City Councilman Sterling Wilder, and three pastors (Rev. Vernie Bolden, Rev. Jen Brothers, and Rev. Dr. Peter Thompson).
Admission is FREE and open to all ages, stages, and generations. Registration is necessary because space is limited. Light refreshments will be provided throughout the morning.
