The Lynchburg Art Club & Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Petal & Place, a new group exhibition featuring paintings by Meg Bruce, Julia Dean, Margaret Morris, and Kim VandeBogart. The show opens with a public reception on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:30 PM as part of Lynchburg’s First Friday celebration.
Petal & Place brings together four artists whose work finds inspiration in the natural world — exploring landscape, flora, light, and atmosphere through paint. The exhibition showcases a range of painterly approaches united by a shared sensitivity to color and place.
The exhibition will remain on view through August 30, 2026. Gallery hours are Thursday–Friday, 1:00–5:00 PM, and Saturday–Sunday, 1:30–4:00 PM. Admission is free and open to the public.
About the Artists
Meg Bruce is a Lynchburg native and Virginia Tech graduate who returned to her lifelong passion for painting after raising her family. Working in oils and mixed media, she has studied under Ron Boehmer through the Lynchburg Art Club and attended workshops with David Eakin, Laura Wooton, and Amy Brnger.
Julia Dean is an Amherst County native who works in oils and watercolor, with a particular love of painting clouds and sky. Her work has been shown at the Lynchburg Art Festival and the Bath County Art Show and is currently on view at Findings Art and Art on 12th, Studio #2.
Kim VandeBogart discovered painting in 2014 and has pursued it with growing dedication ever since. She studied with artist Arnulfo Jacinto at the Academy of Fine Arts, joined the Lynchburg Art Club & Gallery in 2021, and received the Award of Distinction at the LAC’s 2023 “Show Your Best” exhibition for her painting Whiskey Glass.
The Lynchburg Art Club & Gallery, located at 1011 Rivermont Ave, has been a cornerstone of the Lynchburg arts community since 1895. The gallery presents rotating exhibitions of work by member and guest artists throughout the year.
