Lookin’ for Lightning Bugs Sunset Walk

May 29 @ 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm

$3.00
  • « GUNS & HOSES CHARITY SOFTBALL GAME
  • Saturday Market Day »

As dusk draws near, lightning bugs appear! Join park rangers on a family-friendly walk on the Skyline Trail to see the sun set over the mountains and watch lightning bugs glow in the meadows below. Learn what makes these bioluminescent beetles tick while taking in views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Pre-registration is required and space is limited. To register, call (540) 254-0795. Prepayment is taken at time of registration by credit card over the phone, and you will be emailed a receipt.

The program fee is $3 per person. Meet at Skyline Trail to begin; for Google Map directions: [CLICK HERE]

Ticks are common on the trail. Pack bug spray, tuck pant legs into socks, and check for ticks after getting back from the walk.

Skyline trail is rated moderate for steady elevation gain; you will be going mostly uphill over the course of the quarter mile walk. If you have concerns about being able to attend the program, please call (540) 254-0795 to speak with a ranger.
