Celebrate the rich tradition and vibrant future of ceramics at the Academy Clay Festival 2025, a free, one-day celebration taking place Saturday, October 18 from 9:00AM to 3:00PM at the Historic Theatre Mezzanine Lot in downtown Lynchburg.
This juried outdoor event invites the community to explore the world of ceramic arts through artisan booths, live pottery demonstrations, and hands-on educational experiences. From functional wares to bold sculptural works, attendees can shop from regional artists while enjoying the crisp fall air and festive atmosphere.
Highlights include:
Live Pottery Demonstrations by expert wheel throwers and hand-builders
Educational Talks about ceramic techniques and traditions
Cash Awards for First, Second, Third Place, and Best in Show
Free Admission for all guests
This year’s juror is Kevin Crowe, a celebrated wood-fired potter and founder of Tye River Pottery in Nelson County, VA. Entirely self-taught, Kevin has spent over four decades developing his practice and building kilns across the U.S. and the U.K. His work has been featured in leading ceramic publications and exhibitions around the world.
Artist applications are open now through August 22. Interested vendors are encouraged to apply early to be considered among the region’s top ceramicists.
