Candlelight Tours at Old City Cemetery
October 6, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 6:00 pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, repeating until October 22, 2022
One event on October 16, 2022 at 3:00 pm

It’s almost Autumn in Lynchburg, and what does that mean? A chill in the air, the falling of leaves, and of course, Candlelight Tours at Old City Cemetery! Join our talented cast of characters as they guide you by lantern light through our historic grounds, introducing you to some of the real-life “residents” of our cemetery. You’ll hear fascinating tales of life – and death – from Lynchburg long ago. Plus, guests will enjoy live music by Jim Roberts, and a special performance by Temeka Younger, who will be singing an original song by James Ballard, composed just for OCC Candlelight Tours! We promise a night to remember for the whole family!
You’ll walk about a mile so wear comfortable shoes. Tours will be held rain or shine, and refreshments will be served after!
We do ask that all participants be at least 8 years of age. The Candlelight Tours require walking over uneven terrain, and lengthy periods of quiet. The content deals with mature topics such as slavery and death. We love when children are interested in our local history! However, we do ask that they come prepared to remain quiet during performances so that everyone in the tour can enjoy the show.
Tickets go on sale on September 15, and are $25/adults, and $12.50 16 & under. The link will be shared on our website at https://www.gravegarden.org/candlelight-tours-2022/ , and on Facebook, so make sure you follow us!
