Stream Team: LYH Community Water Monitors

May 21, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free
  • « Peggy Haas Howell Organ Recital
  • “How to Draw Flowers” class for children at Old City Cemetery »

Have you ever wondered what’s in the water? Is it safe for swimming? Well this is your chance to help us answer those questions. Lynchburg Water Resources is creating a coalition to monitor the health of the creeks and streams around Lynchburg. Join us for one of our volunteer training sessions. The first ½ hour to an hour will cover the who what when where and why so if you decide you aren’t interested in volunteering, you can leave after that. The
rest of the program will be a hands-on training where we will cover the ins and outs of citizen science water quality monitoring and get you prepped to help us monitor on your own. We will be publishing this data alongside our water quality stories so the citizens of Lynchburg can decide for themselves if their streams are clean enough, and if not, what to do about it. Please reach out to nancy.lilly@lynchburgva.gov. Register by 5/18.
