Virginia 10 Miler

Join us as we embark on the 48th running of The Moore & Giles Virginia 10 Miler in September 29-30, 2023.

10 Miler 

Runners proceed north on Langhorne Road, downhill for 1.5 miles (Farm Basket Hill) and run to Rivermont Terrace (3.0/7.0 miles). After a short distance on Rivermont Terrace, runners turn east onto historic Rivermont Avenue passing Randolph College (4.0/6.0 miles).  and follow the course clockwise through Riverside Park overlooking the James River (5.0 miles). Runners return the same route finishing up the infamous, 1.5 mile “Farm Basket” hill.

4+ Miler & 4 + Miler Walk 

Participants will run/walk Lynchburg’s newest trail extension (Langhorne Road Bridge), the challenge of Farm Basket Hill, and the excitement of finishing at E.C. Glass High School. The start and finish for the 4.5 mile event are the same. Participants proceed down Langhorne Road following the 10 Miler course past Farm Basket to Cranehill. Turning Left onto Cranehill participants proceed .2 miles to Linkhorne Middle School turning left into the school entrance from Cranehill Drive and following the parking lot driveway to the Blackwater Creek Bikeway Langhorne Bridge Trail extension. Participants will enjoy a paved bikeway above Langhorne Road as they cross Langhorne Road Bridge, turning off the bikeway at the Awareness Garden and onto Old Langhorne Road. Participants rejoin Langhorne Road proceeding underneath Langhorne Road Bridge and travel back to E.C. Glass High School up Farm Basket Hill (Langhorne Road, 1.5 miles).

Amazing Mile Children’s Run

DATE AND TIME: September 29, 2022 Family Festival begins at 4 p.m. Run begins at 6 p.m.

START AND FINISH: 9th  & Jefferson Street (downtown Lynchburg), Lynchburg, VA  24504

ENTRY LIMIT: ¼ mile (ages 0-5) – 150½ mile (ages 6-9) – 2001 mile (ages 13 and under) – 400
