Baseball in Lynchburg
Baseball in Lynchburg has had adoring fans since the middle of the 19th century. Lynchburg dedicated a great deal of property to playing fields, including two stadiums. In 1886, Lynchburg fielded its first professional team, the “Lynchburgs.” The Hill City hosted Major League exhibition games as the teams left spring training to head north. The Lynchburg Museum has an exhibit dedicated to baseball on display until June 3, 2024. Admission is always free. See LynchburgMuseum.org for open days and hours, as well as other special events, programs, and guided tours throughout the year.
