If you’re a dessert enthusiast, Lynchburg is a great place to be, particularly when it comes to chocolate. From cakes to cookies to specialties like tiramisu, there are no shortage of places in town to find an incredible chocolate experience. Here are just a few local restaurants you can visit to get a chocolate fix.
Isabella’s Italian Trattoria
Known for their quality Italian food, Isabella’s also knows their stuff where dessert is concerned. They have several specialty Italian chocolate dishes in which you can indulge after a meal. Try their tiramisu or their chocolate-dipped cannoli, or go all out and order a sampler platter of their dessert, which includes both of those and a piece of pecan pie (we won’t judge)! Isabella’s is located at 4925 Boonsboro Rd, and is open Tuesday-Thursday 11:30 AM-2:30 PM and 5 PM-9 PM, Friday-Saturday 11:30 AM-2:30 PM and 5 PM-10 PM and Sunday 11 AM-2 PM.
Magnolia Foods

Magnolia Foods’ dessert specialty is cake and gourmet cupcakes. They have more flavors, icings, fillings and decor options than you could shake a Hershey’s bar at. Some of their chocolate flavor options include plain chocolate, marble and red velvet. Their chocolate icing options include plain and white chocolate. They also offer delicious fillings of chocolate ganache, cookies ‘n’ cream, chocolate buttercream and chocolate chip. Magnolia Foods does custom orders and has a gallery of the cakes they’ve made so you can get an idea of how you want yours to be made. You can also order online. Magnolia Foods is located at 2476 Rivermont Ave, open Monday 10:30 AM-5 PM, Tuesday-Thursday 10:30 AM-7 PM, Friday 10:30 AM-8 PM, Saturday 10:30 AM-5 PM and Sunday 10:30 AM-3 PM.
Father’s Cafe & Bakery
Father’s Cafe & Bakery is an excellent place to go for a decadent dessert. Their display case is filled with baked goods from chocolate cookies and cupcakes to eclairs and donuts, all fresh-baked and more delicious than you could imagine. They even have gluten-free options like the mouthwatering chocolate brownie shown above. Father’s Cafe & Bakery is located at 1219 Main St. inside the Community Market, and is open Tuesday-Saturday 7 AM-2 PM.
Montana Plains Bakery
A family-owned and -operated business, Montana Plains is a fairly well-known name in Lynchburg, but did you know they have an extensive dessert menu? Their chocolate selection includes cakes, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, cream puffs and eclairs, but also specialty options like milk chocolate truffle pie, chocolate peanut butter pie and even a delectable gluten-free chocolate pecan torte! They have three locations in Lynchburg: 102 Tradewynd Dr, 828 Main St (Cafe Bliss) and 49503 Boonsboro Rd, and are open Monday-Friday 7 AM-6:30 PM and Saturday 7 AM-6 PM.

{RA} Bistro is known for its sophisticated and classy atmosphere, and they serve desserts to match. Their Blackout Cake and Barista Mud Pie are their specialty chocolate desserts, but you’ll want to save room at the end of your meal, because these desserts are large and filling. {RA} Bistro is located at 1344 Main St, and their hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 11 AM-10 PM, Tuesday 11 AM-11 PM, Friday 11 AM-12 AM, Saturday 11 AM-12 AM and Sunday 10 AM-10 PM.
