Mother’s Day gives us space each year to thank the mother in our life for their continual love, support and sacrifices. This year, make Mother’s Day a memorable one by spending the day in LYH.
Go Out for Brunch
Nothing says “You’re the best” like a plate of waffles and a mimosa on the side. 🥂 After all, she spent all those years making breakfast for you, taking her to one of these delicious brunch spots is a nice (and tasty) way to return the favor. Plus, some brunch spots are pet-friendly in case your mom wants to take her pooch along with her.
Enjoy Afternoon Tea
Maybe your mom is more of an Earl Grey tea and scone kind of woman. Why not take her out for afternoon tea at the Ploughcroft Tea Room? Their afternoon tea specials range from scones and endless pots of tea to full three-tiered plates filled with assorted scones, finger sandwiches and desserts.
See a Broadway Show
Just in time for Mother’s Day, take her to a matinee showing of the broadway show Follies, performed by the local talented community on the Academy Center of the Art’s stage. Written by Stephen Sondheim, Follies is considered to be one of the greatest broadway shows of all time and dives into the Vaudeville era.
Spoil Her with Views From the BluffWalk
If your mom is a nature-lover, take her to one of the best views in all of Lynchburg. The BluffWalk sits right below Commerce Street and offers breathtaking looks of the historic James River and the Blue Ridge Mountains. You can even take her to any of the local eateries along the BluffWalk for a unique dining experience she won’t forget.
Go on a Shopping Spree
Treat your mom to a day out shopping around local stores. In Lynchburg, we’re fortunate to have incredible artisan makers who craft anything from jewelry to homemade candles. You can find locally crafted goods along the Artisan Trail.
