Old City Cemetery Candlelight Tours
October 10 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm$12 – $24
Candlelight Tours is a living history program that portrays the lives of 8-12 people who lived or died in Lynchburg or were buried at Old City Cemetery. The stories represent local history as told through the eyes of these individuals chosen to represent all walks of life – rich and poor, educated and illiterate, free and enslaved. Guests are invited to follow a lantern toting tour guide to six different gravesites and tour stops each evening. At each place, the audience hears actors as they portray the real people who once lived, laughed, loved, cried, and died in Lynchburg. Each tour begins at the Comfort House and concludes at the Stapleton Station House with refreshments. An exhibit showcasing historical documents used to write the scripts will be on display in the Cemetery Center and virtually on OCC’s website through the month of October.
Tour dates: October 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24
Tour times are 6:10, 6:30, 6:50, 7:10, 7:30, 7:50, 8:10 *(8:10 – Friday and Saturday only)
