Appalachian Power's utility arboretum in Lynchburg, VA was officially opened in April 2008 with a dedication ceremony that took place on Arbor Day. It is located on Appalachian Power's grounds and is specifically designed to demonstrate appropriate tree choices to plant near and underneath utility lines, as well as providing a resource for homeowners, landscape contractors, and developers to learn more about tree form and suitability in the area. The Lynchburg Tree Stewards help maintain the arboretum.
