Each Saturday through the end of July, participants of the Civil War walking tour will get a sense of what life was like in Lynchburg back in the mid-1800’s.  Tour members will learn about Lynchburg’s military and social importance during the America’s Civil War and hear engaging stories about how Lynchburg residents played a pivotal role in the War. This will be an hour long, moderate pace tour and participants should be able to navigate Lynchburg’s terrain, including the hill from the original Kanawha Canal up two blocks to Main Street.  Free walking tours are also available by appointment for up to groups of 10.  Those interested in taking part are encouraged to call the Lynchburg Visitor Center at 434-485-7290 to reserve their spot.
